URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator

It is a known fact that, Keywords are the source for good Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It is utilized on the title tags, Meta tags, body / content, incoming and outgoing links, image naming and more. Although the importance of keywords in your URL has been questioned by various sources, It is simply a factor that deserves attention.
Regardless if using the keywords in your URL is a highly rated, lowly rated or not at all rated factor by Search Engines, it still gives an advantage to the site owner:
A potential visitor will more likely to click on a site that has a URL which contains the keyword, over a site that does not.

SUBDOMAIN STRATEGY
If the specific DomainName.TLD is already taken, utilizing a subdomain strategy is a route that can be taken for optimizing your site for the Search Engines. Although this strategy may or may not produce the results you are seeking, there are certain points you should be careful.
- Utilize one-level format
(keyword.domain.com instead of keyword.keyword.domain.com) - Although you can delimit your subdomain by dashes, it is not recommended.
- Avoid having subdomains with only one or two pages on them
DOMAIN STRATEGY
It is a known fact that owning a domain name which contains your keyword(s) has advantages. The argument between separating your keywords in your domain name with hyphen or not...
Previously hyphenated keywords within domain names enjoyed a small ranking advantage. Today due to past abuses, search engines favor domain names without dashes and also they can pick up the keywords without the help of dashes. But the best strategy will be, owning the domain with and without the dashes. You never know what search engines will favor in the future.
SUBDIRECTORY / FILENAME STRATEGY
Utilize your keyword(s) in your subdirectory and filenames. But don't abuse it.
